Most Common Czech Baby Names

Do you wonder what the most common Czech Baby names are? Luckily, the Czech Statistical Office has been keeping track of the baby names for quite a few years so we can give you an exact answer! Read on!

After the Velvet Revolution there was a boom of names Czech people considered modern and perhaps western. And while 20 years ago names like Sara or Sofie were seen as pretty extravagant, they’re very common nowadays. And just as history tends to repeat, so does the popularity of names. The Czech have rediscovered many of the traditional Czech names and so many of the children of today are called Amálie, Anežka, Matouš or Metoděj just like their great-grandparents.

There are, however, three to five names whose popularity remains intact no matter the changes of taste of many Czech parents. Here are the most common baby names in the past few years.
