The singer Tonya Graves is originally from New York and she moved to Czechia in 1995. Her Czech is so impressive!
Ofra Haza
Ofra Haza was probably the most internationally known Isreali singer. Her voice continues to astonish people long after her passing. Even if you’ve never heard any of her songs, you know her if you’ve watched the movie Prince of Egypt. She sang the part of Moses’ mother in almost all the language versions including Czech.
Madeleine Albright
The former US secretary of state is 100% Czech and her original name is Marie Korbelová. Even after all the years she’s been living in the US her Czech is perfect and absolutell unimpacted by any foreign accent.
Petra Němcová
Němcová is known as a model but even more probably as the tsunami survivor in which she lost her fiancée Simon Atlee. She also dated James Blunt and the prime minister of Haiti. Although she comes to Czechia often and keeps in touch with her family, people started noticing her difficulties when speaking Czech and she’s sometimes an object of jokes for loosing her mother tongue while her English is still quite imperfect.
Donald Trump Jr.
Donald Jr. is half Czech and he learnt his mother tongue thanks to spending the summer vacation with his maternal grandparents in Czechoslovakia.
Ivana Trump
Ivana’s Czech was admirable although a native person would notice some minor mistakes in her grammar. She hadn’t been much in touch with her mother tongue except for the contact with her mother.
Pavlína Pořízková / Paulina Porizkova
Porizkova was one of the most internationally acknowledged models of her era. Her husband was the late rock-star Ric Ocasek (also of Czech heritage). Her Czech is very good given that she left Czechoslovakia as a child and lived in Sweden, France and the USA.
Osmany Laffita
This Cuban fashion designer has been living in Czechia for decades now.
Karolina Kurková
Kurkova is one of the most famous top models ever. She was born in Czechoslovakia and maintains a strong connection with her country of origin.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry doesn’t really speak Czech but at her concert in Prague she sure showed interest in learning a few words from her fans.
Herbert Lom
Herbert Lom was a famous Czech-British actor and the original inspector Dreyfuss from The Pink Panther. Listen to him in a scene from his last movie in Czech.
Chantal Poullain
Chantal Poullain is a French actress who’s been living in the Czech republic since 1987. She married (and then divorced) one of the most famous Czech actors. Her Czech isn’t perfect at all but she’s confident speaking and she’s probably far more popular in Czech Republic than in France.
Alena Šeredová
This model is probably familiar to Italians more than anyone else. She married and later divorced the football player Gigi Buffon with whom she has two sons.
Jan Tříska
Jan Tříska was a famous Czech-American actor. He left the country as an adult and returned often later in life, so he never forgot his mother tongue. Listen to him in one of his most famous Czech roles.
Eliška Hašková-Coolidge
The former assistant of many US-presidents speaks Czech perfectly.
Ivan Lendl

The creator of such legendary movies like Amadeus never forgot his mother tongue.
Norodom Sihamoni, the King of Cambodia
The King of Cambodia, Norodom Sihamoni, was sent to Prague, then Czechoslovakia, to study when he was just a little prince. He graduated the elementary school in Prague and continued his studies here. He attended and graduated The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague where he studied ballet. In the video you can listen to his speech after being awarded a honorary doctorate in 2010. His Czech is beautiful, fluent, with perfect accent.
Filipe Nyusi
Filipe Nyusi is the 4th president of Mosambic. In 1990, Mr. Nyusi got a degree in machine engineering in Brno where he learnt the Czech language. He returned to the country in 2023 at the invitation of the president of the Czech Republic (who was his classmate). It’s hard to judge from his recent visit whether he still speaks the language as he was heard saying only one Czech word in the news report.
Jason Mraz
Ok, Jason Mraz doesn’t really speak Czech. However, he keeps the connection with his grandfather’s country of birth alive and here you can listen to his one-phrase Czech intro.
