Old Gasworks in Hřensko

incredible places plynárna

What seems like a house from a fairy-tale is a former acetylene gasworks built in 1905. It produced gas for the 12 houses nearby and its location was chosen for safety reasons. In the case of an explosion, the accidents wouldn’t affect the houses in the village.  The gasworks was shut down in the 1920s and it serves as a guesthouse nowadays.

It is located near the Hřensko village and you can use the “old gasworks” (stará plynárna) as a starting point to explore the gorges and the beautiful natural sight called Pravčická gate.
